The Boy Who Was Supposed to Fail

24 years later, an old friend asked me a simple question: "What happened to you, Santosh?"It made me reflect on the journey — the small shifts, the happy accidents, and the truth that I'm still becoming.Sharing it here, for anyone who’s still taking the next step. #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #Transformation #Journey #GrowthMindset #SelfDiscovery #LifeLessons Bishop Cotton Boys' School If parts of this resonate, I'd love to hear your story too.

The Weight of the Middle

In the beginning, there is fire. But what happens when the fire fades and the summit is still nowhere in sight? This is the part no one glamorizes — the middle. The stretch with no applause, no finish line, no romance. The weight carried in silence. I wrote this piece for every founder, leader, and dreamer walking that invisible stretch. For my co-founders who have been with me from day one. And for my fellow EcoPhites who carry this mission with courage every single day. 🔥 If you are in your own middle, what keeps you walking? #Leadership #Entrepreneurship #StartupJourney #Sustainability #FounderLife #Resilience #EcoPhites #Phitons

The Blind Spots That Shape Our Leadership

Fifteen years after graduating from Manchester Business School, I met some of my classmates again. What began as an evening of laughter and memories turned into a moment of honesty that changed the way I see leadership. One classmate spoke about the invisible weight she carried as a woman in corporate life and entrepreneurship. Her words stayed with me. Later, I began to see what I had missed all along: the interruptions, the balancing acts, the unspoken pressures. It also made me reflect on another blind spot. People from smaller towns and cities, who may not communicate in polished English, often find their ideas dismissed before they are even heard. How many insights have we ignored, not out of intent but because we did not provide a platform for every voice? Leadership is shaped not only by what we see, but also by the blind spots we carry. I wrote about this experience and what it taught me here:

Unlearn, Relearn, Rebuild 🌱

“Change is inevitable. And if you don’t change – you will be changed.” These lines showed a high impact on me, after spending over two decades, deeply immersed in Manufacturing Operations and Quality Systems. I had proudly optimized processes, ensured precision, and led teams through lean transformations — but something was missing.

Honesty. Humility. Hunger. Why I Look for These Three Above All Else.

What makes someone the right fit for Phitons? Not just skill. Not just experience. But something deeper. 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲. 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫. At a recent event in Chennai, I saw the difference it makes. Same hall. Same industry. Two very different energies. One stall was counting minutes. The other was building belief. That moment reminded me what truly sets a team apart. Not titles. Not tools. But the values we carry into the work. I've written about the kind of culture we're building at Phitons—and the kind of people we're looking for. 𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧. That’s Just a Pile of Scrap… Or Is It?

What if the metal products we use every day carry an invisible burden—plastic waste hidden in plain sight? During my time consulting with manufacturing industries, I discovered an unsettling truth: plastic scraps often get mixed into metal waste, only to be melted down along with it. What seems like harmless scrap re-enters the value chain, spreading microplastics and environmental harm in ways we rarely consider. In this article, I share the moment that opened my eyes to this hidden challenge, the environmental risks it poses, and how sustainable packaging solutions like Durapack can help break this silent cycle of contamination. 👉 Read the full story and find out how even the smallest choices on the factory floor can have a lasting impact on our planet. #Sustainability #PlasticWaste #Manufacturing #CircularEconomy #EcoInnovation #Durapack #Phitons Bioengineering Pvt Ltd

The Field That Bled Plastic

𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭. Before I became a CEO, I was a farmer. I lived on the land. I watched plastic mulch break down—into slivers, into dust—until the soil stopped breathing. What starts in the field doesn’t stay there. It moves through water, food, oceans, and generations. I’ve written this piece not as a business leader—but as someone who’s seen the slow death of our soil with my own eyes. At Phitons, we’re building compostable alternatives—but this article isn’t about what we sell. It’s about why we had to do something. 👉 Read it. 💬 Tell me what you’ve seen. 🙋 Tag someone who’s walked this road. #SoilHealth #PlasticFreeFarming #Microplastics #RegenerativeAgriculture #Sustainability #Phitons #FutureOfFarming #ClimateJustice

The Earth We Leave Begins With Us

🌍 This Earth Day hit differently. Over dinner last night, I watched my 18-month-old daughter pour water from her little glass onto a plate—again and again—with total focus and joy. She wasn’t interested in the salad or the avocado ice-cream. Just the flow of water. Just the moment. It made me pause. And it made me write. What emerged was a personal reflection that weaves that quiet dinner scene with the work we do at Phitons, two poems I’ve written for her, and the uncomfortable truth of what it really takes to lead in sustainability today. The Earth we leave behind won’t be shaped by what we say on Earth Day— but by what we’re willing to stand for the day after. If you’ve ever wrestled with the gap between values and action—especially in business—I think it’ll resonate. And if you’re someone walking the harder path: Thank you. You give me hope.

From Early Belief to Lifelong Partnership: My Journey in Early-Stage Fundraising

Fundraising isn’t just about capital—it’s about belief. At Phitons, our earliest investors didn’t just fund a startup—they backed a vision to eliminate microplastics, enhance soil and food security, and build a future where sustainable packaging is the norm. In this article, I share the five stages of early-stage fundraising that I’ve personally experienced—from trust to stewardship—and why this journey is one of the most humbling and transformative parts of building a company. 👇 Read on if you’re a founder, an investor, or just someone who believes we can build better. A heartfelt thank you to the pioneers who took a bet on us: Vasanth Kumar, Sushruth B R – your early belief gave us momentum. Phani Himadhar Subramanyam (Subbu ) Satyanarayana – thank you for joining in to help us grow. And a warm welcome to our newest supporter, Madan Mohan Muralidhar — grateful to have you on this journey with us. #ImpactInvesting #SustainableStartups #FounderJourney #EarlyStageFunding #TrustInLeadership #GreenInnovation #Phitons #BuildingWithPurpose #ClimateTech Phitons Bioengineering Pvt Ltd

The Battles We Choose: Sustainability & Legacy

Microplastics in honey. Let that sink in. Bees don’t need plastic. They don’t use it, produce it, or discard it. Yet, unknowingly, they gather it—just as we do. This isn’t just about plastic. It’s about the cost of waiting. For decades, we’ve known about plastic pollution. We’ve seen the data, heard the warnings, and watched the consequences unfold in real time. And yet, as a society, we hesitate—waiting for the perfect solution before acting. But while we wait, plastic spreads. And the bees keep collecting. At Phitons, we don’t believe in waiting. We act. We build. We learn fast. We scale. And we’ve been able to do this thanks to the early adopters who believed in us—who didn’t wait for the market to catch up, but instead chose action over hesitation. Because of them, we are in a position to accelerate and make a meaningful impact. This is the fight we have chosen. Not because we are a company, but because we believe sustainability is a battle worth waging. Because if bees can’t escape the reach of plastic, what makes us think our children can? 👉 Read my latest article "The Battles We Choose: Sustainability & Legacy" where I talk about the true cost of waiting, the battles worth fighting, and why we must act now, not later. Let’s start a conversation: What step will you take today? 💬👇 #Sustainability #Microplastics #SustainablePackaging #ClimateAction #Phitons #EcoInnovation Phitons Bioengineering Pvt Ltd

The recent debate around extended work hours has sparked conversations on productivity, employee well-being, and leadership. While the focus has largely been on the number of hours worked, I believe we’re missing the bigger picture.

Why Green Tech Is the Future: A CEO’s Journey of Innovation, Investment, and Impact

The hum of the factory floor faded into the background as I watched an automobile giant’s components wrapped in our sustainable Earthen DuraPack. It was a moment of validation—proof that our mission to combat single-use plastics was creating tangible change. This milestone wasn’t just about replacing packaging; it symbolized the growing interest in sustainability across industries, from enterprises to investors.
